How do I schedule my Palmdale Playhouse dance recital portrait session?
Portrait sessions will be available on June 10, 11 and 13 in the afternoon/evening. There will be sign-up sheets available beginning May 7. Each day will have availability slots, but you may not skip class to have your pictures taken. Please schedule the pictures around your class time. The sitting fee (including a CD of at least five images) is $20.00. Cash or check payable to Kathryn Newman is accepted.
What does my portrait session include?
Your portrait session will take place at the Palmdale Playhouse. It will last approximately 15 minutes. Your child will be photographed in a variety of poses, and you will be able to pick up your high-resolution CD with the five best images at the Spring Recital.
What do I need to bring to my portrait session?
Please remember to have your child's hair done in a ballet bun and light stage make-up applied. They should also be underdressed appropriately for their costume and that their shoes are clean. Your child will put on their costume at the Playhouse prior to the portrait session.
What if my child gets cold feet?
Children can sometimes be intimidated by their first portrait session, as they are not used to the lights or posing in front of a backdrop. Other children love the attention of getting to be the "Star" of the photo shoot. With all sessions, we invite the parents or guardians to be there to watch and encourage the child. I will take the time to help each child feel comfortable and tailor the poses to the child's skill level.
Can I select my own poses?
We do have suggested poses, but if there are any special poses you would like, whether it be sitting, full length, of 3/4 length shots, feel free to inform us. I have been involved with dance photography for years, and can help with the posing if you are unsure of what you want.
Can I order prints through you?
I would love to order your prints for you through a professional lab. They are of much higher quality than you will find at your local drug store or discount center. Please e-mail Kathy Newman at [email protected] for pricing.
